First defeat of the season for Rainhill’s Super 8s team

Rainhill’s Women’s Super 8s side experienced defeat for the first time this year when they lost to a very good Northern side on Monday evening. Following victories over Sefton Park and Irby, Rainhill came up against another unbeaten team. Rainhill approached the game positively and some useful contributions, especially from Katie Roberts and Susan Rotheram helped them to a new score of 242.
Rainhill’s problem was the regular loss of wickets and the total didn’t seem sufficiently competitive against a good side. To their credit Rainhill bowled and fielded well and there were wickets for Anna Page, Susan Rotheram, Katie Roberts, Julie Foulkes and Alex Lea.
There were some great catches – including two absolutely fantastic catches courtesy of Katie Roberts and Susan Rotheram. However, some big hitting from Northern’s final pair made sure the result was not in doubt.
