Rainhill CC Women’s Softball Team Secures Victory Against Irby CC

In a match played in good spirits and a sense of fun at Rainhill CC Ground, the women’s softball team clinched a convincing victory against Irby CC’s 1st XI. 
Opting to field first after winning the toss, Rainhill’s bowlers showed the rewards of their training, limiting Irby CC to a total of 88 runs for the loss of 7 wickets in 16 overs.
Rainhill’s disciplined bowling effort, which resulted in the five wickets of Irby CC batters, played a significant role in restricting the opposition’s score.

The fielding effort from Rainhill CC was commendable throughout the match, including a crucial catch at backward square by Kerry Lawler off Helen Jones’ bowling, and a run-out executed by Sarah Curlett and Lawler. 

In response, Rainhill’s batting lineup displayed resilience and determination, reaching a formidable total of 133 runs for the loss of 4 wickets in 16 overs.  Sarah Curlett led the charge with a composed innings, finishing with a net score of scoring 18 runs.  Contributions from Katie Roberts (14), Kerry Lawler (14) and Lucy Strettle (12) among others, helped Rainhill reach a commanding total.  Rainhill’s batters found the boundary multiple times, with a notable six to Strettle.
Despite four dismissals, Rainhill’s batting lineup remained steadfast, guiding the team to victory with their collective effort.

With two wins out of two, Rainhill CC Women’s Softball Team looks forward to their next challenge with confidence and determination.
