Rainhill 127-10 (Usman 47, McKeown 38; Sephton 6-25)
Northern 128-3 (McGladdery 67, Kennedy 43; Khan 2-25)
Rainhill’s second home game of the season resulted in a comprehensive defeat to a strong Northern side.
Batting first, Rainhill found themselves reduced to 36-4 at the hand of Northern’s ever-consistent bowling line up. A strong willed, rebuilding, gritty partnership of 77 from Khalid Usman (47) and Robert McKeown (38) followed, giving the home side a platform to post a competitive score against a strong Northern batting line up. What followed was a batting collapse of the home side’s lower middle order, losing 4 wickets for 0 runs following a drinks break, with Rainhill being bowled out for 127. Northern’s T Sephton producing figures of 6-25 from his 16.1 overs.
Despite Rainhill’s bowlers’ best efforts, Northern achieved the desired total in 34 overs at the loss of 3 wickets. Former Rainhill player Tyler McGladdery finishing with 67 not out from 82 balls. Bilal Khan (2-25) and Jamie Harrison (1-19) sharing the only 3 Northern wickets to fall.
