Rainhill CC 170 All Out (Usman 67, McKeown 33; Vincent 3-15, Laker 3-20)
Northern CC 135-3 (McGladdery 79, Laker 67; Harrision 1-23)
Winning the toss and batting first, Rainhill saw themselves reduced to 68-5 against restrictive Northern bowling. The only notable highlight of Rainhill’s batting performance was thanks to both Khalid Usman, who carried on his consistent form with the bat and Rob McKeown. Trhe two producing a 63-run partnership for 6th wicket. Khalid Usman producing an innings of 67 from 70 balls, (7 fours and 2 sixes), nicely supported by McKeown’s 33 from 61 balls. Rainhill eventually falling to 170 all out from 48 overs.
Defending a lower score against an established Northern batting line up required early wickets, Captain Jamie Harrison removed one of Northern’s opening batsmen, but what followed was a 137-2nd wicket partnership which took the game away from Rainhill, Khalid Usman taking the other Northern wicket. Northern reaching their target, 2 wickets down from 38.2 overs
