Nestled in the heart of Rainhill Village, Rainhill Cricket Club has been a cornerstone of the community since its establishment in 1871. With a rich history and a vibrant present, the club offers something for everyone, from budding young cricketers to seasoned veterans of the game.
A Club for All
Rainhill Cricket Club prides itself on its inclusivity and commitment to the sport. Accredited by the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) as a Clubmark club and recognised as an ECB disability cricket champion club, we ensure that cricket is accessible to all.
Teams and Training
Our club boasts a wide range of teams:
Senior Teams: We field four senior teams that compete on weekends, providing opportunities for players of all skill levels. Senior training sessions take place on Tuesdays and Thursdays, making it convenient for players to hone their skills and prepare for matches.
Midweek Team: The Last Man Stands team offers a shorter, more dynamic format of the game, perfect for those looking to play cricket midweek.
Women’s Teams: Our women’s section is thriving, with both softball and hardball teams catering to varying skill levels.
Junior Section: We take great pride in our junior section, nurturing young talent from an early age. Our junior teams include U9s, two U11 teams, two U13 teams (including a girls-only team), U15s, and U18s.
Recreation Team: Perfect for adults wanting to have fun or try cricket out, our recreation team offers a relaxed and enjoyable environment to experience the game.
Notable Players
Our first team boasts an impressive lineup, including former Durham player Jamie Harrison and Pakistan professional Khalid Usman. Alongside these stars, we have a wealth of home-grown talent that continues to shine and make us proud.
Additionally, we are thrilled to have five juniors who play at county level and two playing at inter-league (district) level, showcasing the exceptional talent nurtured within our club.
Junior Training and Community Spirit
Friday nights at Rainhill Cricket Club are all about junior training. It’s a fantastic way for young cricketers to develop their skills, make new friends, and have fun in a supportive environment. To add to the community spirit, we host a monthly barbecue or have Carouse on site, serving up mouth-watering dishes like pulled beef, chips, salt and pepper chicken, and nachos. The bar is also open during games and training, making it a perfect social spot for parents and supporters.
