Rain Enforces ‘No Result’ Away For First XI Away To Wigan

Rainhill first team’s trip to Wigan away resulted in a no decision following a
frustrating Saturday of continuous on / off rain.
Starting later due to a combination of persistent rain fall and a wet outfield, Rainhill lost the toss and were put in to bat.

A combination of high quality containing bowling from Wigan, alongside tricky batting conditions restricted Rainhill to 125 all out from 48.3 overs. Wigan’s overseas professional Avinash Yadav producing figures of 17-6-40-5, taking the wickets of Rainhill’s middle order.  Saeed Ullah top scored for Rainhill with 22.
Rainhill’s lower batting order did a stellar job, from 76-7 to 120 all out, valuable runs were added to the score. Including a season’s best for number 11 Jack Lowrie, who’s attacking play of spin being a highlight of the innings.

When the rain became too consistent, Wigan were at a total of 71/3 from 19 overs.
