In a thrilling encounter under the clear skies at Rainhill CC Ground, Victoria Terrace, Rainhill Women’s 1st XI emerged victorious against South Liverpool Women’s 1st XI by 53 runs in the Women’s Hardball Super 8s League Division 2.
Opting to bowl first after losing the toss, Rainhill faced a strong start from South Liverpool’s opening pair, who put on a solid 31 runs. However, Rainhill’s bowlers staged a remarkable comeback, tightening their grip as the innings progressed. They bowled two consecutive maidens, applying pressure that resulted in South Liverpool’s total stagnating by the end of the third pair, reaching only 33 runs.
South Liverpool’s innings saw Hara Anzil leading the charge with 15 runs, supported by contributions from Katie Bishop and Dinesha Marasinghe. Despite the initial partnership, Rainhill’s bowlers, led by Sarah Curlett and Olivia Clifford, showcased their skill and discipline. Sue Lorwie was sharp behind the stumps, ensuring no easy runs for South Liverpool.
