Rainhill’s first team have progressed to the quatre finals of the Liverpool echo t20 cup with a comprehensive 9 wicket win away to Highfield CC.
With Highfield electing to bat, Rainhill got off to a great start with the ball, restricting the home side to 13-5. Bowling in tandem, Rainhill’s overseas professional, Khalid Usman, and captain, Jamie Harrison, bowled economically, whilst taking wickets. Usman producing figures
of 4-1-5-3 alongside Harrison, 4-3-4-2. The home sides middle / lower order
accumulated runs and built partnership to finish with an overall score of 69/9 from their allotted 20 overs.
Rainhill’s batters chased Highfields score within 11 overs, for the loss of 1 wicket. A 59-run 2nd wicket partnership between Bilal Khan, (22 from 27 balls) and Khalid Usman, (36 from 28 balls) saw Rainhill to the end of the game and onwards to the quarter finals.
