Newton-le-Willows CC – 2nd XI emerged victorious against Rainhill CC – 2nd XI at The Lane on Saturday 6th July 2024. Opting to field first after winning the toss, Newton-le-Willows restricted Rainhill to a total of 87 all out in 31.4 overs.
Batting first, Rainhill struggled to build partnerships as wickets fell at regular intervals. James Clarke top-scored with a resilient 30, supported briefly by Daniel Woodward (13 not out). However, disciplined bowling from Newton-le-Willows kept Rainhill’s innings in check.
In response, Newton-le-Willows chased down the target of 88 runs in 16.3 overs, reaching 88-3. Euan Tully led the charge with a brisk 32. Despite a few breakthroughs from Rainhill’s bowlers, including Nathan Lawler (2 wickets for 19 runs), Newton-le-Willows achieved victory and 20 points in the Liverpool and District Cricket Competition.
Rainhill CC – 2nd XI will look to bounce back stronger in their upcoming fixtures.
